The enterprises of the Rosatom Machine-Building Division – JSC “Atomenergomash” have been tested for compliance with the requirements of the Hungarian Nuclear Safety Code.

In the course of the audit, conducted by the representatives of JSC “ASE” in the presence of the representatives of CJSC “ASE Paks II” and the Hungarian regulator - the National Agency for Nuclear Energy (“OAN”), the reference projects of enterprises in the nuclear industry, the quality management system, the provision of resources, including human resources were studied. The auditors visited the production buildings and special laboratories, where they learnt about the metal inspection program used in NPP equipment manufacturing. The special attention was paid to the operational safety system development.

The results of the audit confirmed the required level of competences of JSC “Atomenergomash” and its enterprises for the key equipment production for “Paks-2” NPP. It is necessary for the subsequent receipt by JSC “Atomenergomash” and the manufacturers of the nuclear safety certificate from the side of the customer of the “Paks-2” NPP construction and participation in the necessary procedures for the selection of equipment manufacturers.

The plants of the Division participate in passing the nuclear qualification procedure as potential suppliers of the reactor plant for two new power units of the “Paks” NPP, including reactor vessels, steam generators, main circulation pipelines, main circulation pumps, etc.

CJSC "ASE Paks II" and “OAN” are already at the stage of selecting the equipment suppliers. They pay great attention to the fact that the participants of the project "Paks-2" NPP should follow the nuclear safety requirements as much as possible.

At present four power units with VVER-440 reactors operate at “Paks” NPP. In December 2014, a contract was signed for the construction of two new VVER-1200 units of the 3+ generation "Paks-2" NPP.
