Atommash has been audited by the Finnish company Fennovoima

The quality management system of the Volgodonsk Branch of JSC AEM-Technology (a part of the Rosatom Engineering division – Atomenergomash) has been successfully audited under the process of approval as a manufacture of materials for Hanhikivi-1 NPP.

The audit was performed by Fennovoima Oy representatives, the customer and licensee of Hanhikivi-1 NPP, and with the participation of the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority of Finland (STUK). The purpose of the audit was to verify the readiness to manufacture equipment for Hanhikivi-1 NPP in accordance with the Finnish state requirements and contractual requirements of the customer.

The auditors of Fennovoima Oy assessed the efficiency of the quality management system, safety culture progress level and the project management. The experts also assessed destructive and non-destructive test laboratories, their conformity to the STUK requirements.

The audit confirmed that Atommash had fulfilled the requirements and recommendations drawn up by the experts following the results of the previous audits, has necessary resources and fulfils the requirements of the quality management system during the manufacture of materials. The audit has revealed no non-conformities.

Based on the audit, Fennovoima Oy has made a decision to approve JSC AEM-Technology’ Atommash Branch in Volgodonsk as a manufacture of materials, including of the reactor pressure vessel head for Hanhikivi-1 NPP.

Atomenergomash is the original equipment supplier of the reactor plant VVER-1200 for Hanhikivi-1 NPP. The plant will be located on the Finnish Hanhikivi peninsula, in the municipality of Pyhäjoki of the Northern Ostrobothnia region. The project fully complies with the regulations of IAEA and EUR and will be adjusted to the Finnish state safety requirements, which, according to many experts, rank among the most strict requirements in the world.
