The Cutting-edge solutions for nuclear power plants project submitted to the contest by AAEM LLC – a joint venture between Atomenergomash, the power engineering and manufacturing division of Rosatom, and General Electric – has received Atomexpo Award certificate for excellence in the 'Innovations for the Future' category. The project is an example of unique cooperation between two industry giants – Atomenergomash and General Electric – thanks to which AAEM has become a platform for the development of best practices in the design and supply of turbine hall equipment for Rosatom's new nuclear power construction projects with the Russian VVER-type reactor.

Selected as the basis for this international cooperation, the ARABELLE™ half-speed steam turbine technology platform has accumulated over 20 years of operation at nuclear power plants and maintains leading positions in terms of unit power output, reliability and efficiency in the world nuclear power market.

The combination of the Rosatom-designed reactor island equipment and the ARABELLE™ technology-based turbine island ensures safety and reliability in plant operation, reduces the time to construct and maximizes the Owner's benefit throughout the lifecycle. Such nuclear power plant package has become a solution of choice for both nuclear power newcomers (Egypt and Turkey) and countries with an existing nuclear power infrastructure (Finland and Hungary).

"We are happy that our project has been ranked among the best in the 'Innovations for the Future' category and we are positive that the productive cooperation of Rosatom and General Electric in the supply of equipment for new nuclear build will continue to grow," Ilya Vergizaev, General Director of AAEM LLC, commented at the award ceremony.

Atomexpo Award is an international professional award that celebrates contributions to the development and use of nuclear technologies for the benefit of humanity. The competition is held in five categories: “Nuclear Technologies for Better Life”, “Innovations for the Future”, “Best Launch”, “Public Communication”, “Human Capital Development”. The focal topic of the ATOMEXPO-2019 Forum was the contributions made by advanced nuclear technologies to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
